Saturday 7th February – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington – gloomy with drizzle:(

Foil – 19.98 knot max(year PB), 17.60 knot ave(year PB)., 9.97 knot hou(year PB)r, 14.41 knot mile, 30.50 km., 15.30 knot alpha(year PB).

Starboard Freeride 150 (LW) and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.7m.

It looked promising for a windsurf foil after a spell of cold wet weather, Al Wiz messaged saying it looked good at The Manor which it did, the sun was even out at this point but it is too early and chilly for me to venture out on the sea so I once again decided to head over to gusty Levington! A few went out at The Dip to make the most of low water, I checked on the webcam and it looked marginal at best, I spotted 3 wingers and a couple of kitesurfers out in the kite puddle. I had enough time to do my exercises before hitching the trailor and left dropping Mag off enroute for her daily walk! I arrived at the marina around 10.30, the tide still fairly low and it did not look very inspiring so I sat in my van working up the enthusiom to set-up. I then made myself to set-up my foiul board, then the rain arrived so I headed back in the van just as David Coles arrived and started to rig his longboard gear. I put my wetsuit on as two wingers arrived and the rain eased and with wind gusting to 20 knots I rigged my 5.7 which proved OK. David headed out first with his 9.5 followed by me with a much smaller sail! I had some nice runs but it was foul sailing conditions really gloomy with drizzle making it very hard to see where you were going as I slowly beat towards the corner, I got a few year PB’s but then again I did not have much to beat! I dropped in after two hours and it is cold, only 8 degrees so I was time to call it a day, not great but it was nice to warm up in the hot showers the best part of the day!
